- Special Features of Electroplating Rectifiers
- Electroplating rectifier equipment usually consists of
three parts
- Main Transformer with buck boost transformer.
- Diodes Fittings
- Output DC Voltage Controller
- In a rectifier set, the required variation in output
voltage is produced in two ways
- Rotary Switches With Auto Transformer
In rectifier with rotary switches models, the output DC voltage
setting is accomplished with transformer tappings in steps. Rotary
switches get damaged with make-break switching operations and needs
replacement frequently. Any breakdown, replacing rotary switches may
cost Rs. 1000 to 1500 only, but also causes production losses for a
day or two. These switches have inherent disadvantage in voltage
regulation with finite steps in the control range, whereas regulator
model gives smooth truely infinitely stepless variation range of
control.
- On Load Voltage Regulator
With regulator model, the output DC voltage settings is done with
Onload Regulator, steepllessly. Manufacturers of rectifier equipment
use two types of voltage regulators including:
- Troidal Wire Wound Regulators
These regulators are equipped with carbon brush assembly having
efficiency of less than 90% and overall maximum life of 3 to 4
years. They require periodical replacement of carbon brushes and
winding coils.
- Vertical Rolling Contact Type
These are copper strip wound regulators, provided with carbon
roller assembly. The efficiency of these type of regulators is
more than 98% and operative life is more than 15 to 20 years.
- Construction Features
Rectifiers manufactured at Power Engineers are wound with
electrolytic prime grade copper strip to minimize power losses, in
comparison to aluminum conductor used by many other manufacturers.
Our equipments are typically designed as per capacity and are
ideally suitable for marginal overloading conditions.
- Diodes
The diodes used in our rectifiers are tested in house. Similar PIV
batch diodes are used in one equipment for equal load sharing and
reducing the power losses of diodes.
- Automation
With Regulator type STEPLESS model Rectifier, automation is
possible. We offer constant voltage controller (CVC) an electronic
attachment, with which the output DC voltage will be automatically
maintained. This will result in uniform quality of plating less
rejections and reduce the consumption of Nickel / Zinc and power
consumption.
- Vertical Rolling contact type Voltage Regulator
We use Vertical Rolling contact type Voltage Regulator which is
wound with heavy section of copper strip suitable for 100%
continuous duty cycle for industrial applications. The life of our
regulators is more than 15 years and have 4-5 % better efficiency.
- On Load Condition
Our Rectifier equipments are liberally designed and actual rated DC
output voltage is achieved at ON LOAD conditions instead of in OFF
LOAD conditions offered by some manufacturers.
